August-September 2019
Band and Choir
The music department has enjoyed a successful winter season! The Winter Concert went off without a hitch! The students in the Sixth Grade Band made their debut, played well, and had fun in the process! Since basketball season started, the Pep Band has enjoyed record turnout and received many compliments; 10 alumni even came back to join us before Winter Break for a great night of collaboration and music making!
Senior Spotlight:
This fall Hayden Wiseman was accepted into the NEMO All-District Band. This is a huge accomplishment, preceded by many hours of practice and private lessons. Though the event was unfortunately snowed out, the accomplishment is not diminished. He was also accepted into Marching Mizzou for the fall. We can't wait to cheer him on next year when the HS Band attends Mizzou Band Day. Congratulations, Hayden!
On Friday, January 7th Amirah Kioh participated in Central's Got Talent at CMU. She performed a solo, sight-read, and wrote an essay as part of the competition. Amirah was awarded a 50% tuition scholarship of $11,500! Congratulations, Amirah!

FFA and Agriculture Classes January was another busy month for the New Franklin FFA. We worked the concession stand for the New Franklin Tournament which serves as one of our biggest fundraisers for the year. Thanks to all of you who bought something from the concession stand during the tournament week. We are entering the time of year when our freshmen begin to learn about Supervised Agricultural Experiences and their record books. Our sophomores just completed the one board challenge in which they had to create a project out of a 1"x8"x8' piece of lumber. Some of the entries were very creative. Our shop classes are staying busy with orders from different people. If you have something you would like built, please let me know or one of the students and we will try to help you out. Thanks again for all of the support throughout the year.

National Honor Society
"The National Honor Society is off to a smooth start this year with all active members assisting kindergartners with their breakfast each morning. NHS members serve in teams of two each day in the cafeteria. We are also helping sponsor a fundraiser for the Senior Class by staffing the bounce-house park on Friday night and all day Saturday during Sante Fe Trail days. Mr. Early is proud of the membership. They are very responsible and willing to commit to service projects throughout the year."
Art Club
The middle and high school Art club will be painting faces and hosting a ring toss during Santa Fe trail days. Please stop by and support your local Art club!
