October-November 2019
Mrs. Morris I am Kim Morris and I teach Kindergarten. I have been a teacher for a little over ten years. In those years I have taught Second Grade, Kindergarten and Preschool. This is my eighth year teaching Kindergarten. This year my husband and I will have been married for 15 years. My husband works for MO-DOT and we have two boys. My boys are in 3rd Grade and 6th Grade. We enjoy boating, watching movies, traveling and being together. I have worked with children for as long as I can remember. I love the things they say and what they bring to each day. My favorite part of being a teacher is watching students succeed. |
Mrs. MeyerMy name is Nicole Meyer, I graduated from Marshall High School in 1983. I did not go to college right after graduation as my brother, Bill, had been ill and passed away that year but, I did go later. I got married to the nicest man in the world, Danny Meyer, 35 years ago and we are still together today.
I began working at the Marshall Habilitation Center and stayed there for 15 years. It was a difficult but, worthy job as you get to help others. It also allowed me to go to college shortly after my daughter. I graduated from Missouri Valley College in 31/2 years with the honor of summa cum laude. I was disappointed I had not better but, it was ok as I still worked 40 hours a week and had a baby. I have a daughter named Alexandra who has three wonderful kids. It is a true joy to be a grandma. I do have one very spoiled puppy named Cash. He is a 10 week old Bull Mastiff. My last Mastiff weighed 174 pounds so, Cash is going to be a big boy right now he only weighs 22 pounds. I began teaching in January of 1998 at Butterfield Youth Services. It is a residential facility with kids that truly are not wanted. It opened my eyes to the many ways that kids need assistance. I stayed there for 5 years and then began teaching at Sedalia Middle School. I worked with a lot of students and really nice teachers and principals. I did leave and go back to working with people that are intellectually disabled at Braun as a Program Manager and then at Woodhaven Learning Center as a Home Coordinator II. I enjoyed working in a different field but truly wanted to get back into teaching as I missed helping kids learn. So, in August of 2018 I started working here at New Franklin School. Every day I am aware that I made the best choice and that I had found a truly wonderful place to work full of the best students and most caring staff I have ever met. |
Mrs. McGowanMy name is Stacy McGowan. I was born and raised in Kansas until 5th grade when we moved to Farmington, MO. The following year we moved to New Franklin where I have been ever since. From 2000-2004 I attended Graceland University in Lamoni, IA. Graduating in May 2004, I earned my degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I married Chris in June 2004 and became a part of the MU Fellows program that same month. The following year I graduated from MU, earning my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. We have 3 children, Brooke, Nolan, and Duncan. I enjoy board games, basketball (Rock Chalk Jayhawk), and spending time with family.

Mr. Quest
I grew up in the town of Warrenton, Missouri, not too far from St. Louis. While in high school, I was involved in the marching band, concert band, and was on the golf team. I attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and majored in secondary social studies education. At Mizzou, I continued in the marching band as a member of the Marching Mizzou Drumline. We were fortunate to be able to travel to several away games, two bowl games, and even performed in the 2001 Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington D.C. I came to New Franklin in 2002 as a member of the Teaching Fellows Program through the University of Missouri. Over the years I have taught many different classes, and currently teach high school American History, geography, History Through Film, and am the yearbook sponsor. I also teach careers and cultural awareness in the middle school. I coach track and cross country, and am the high school student council sponsor. I have really enjoyed my time at New Franklin, and feel fortunate to be a part of this wonderful school district. I currently reside in Columbia and have two boys aged 11 and 7. In my spare time I enjoy watching Blues hockey, traveling, and having fun with my kids.
